The southern part of Købmagergade from Strøget to the Round Tower (Rundetårn) has improved dramatically since the Municipality changed the pavement in the street stretching from Nørreport Station to Strøget.
Since the construction works finished in 2013, the street has attracted numerous domestic and international retailers including Prada, Balenciaga, Valentino, Jimmy Choo, Lantan, Golden Goose Deluxe Brand, Superdry, Sandro, The North Face, Rituals Cosmetics, Joe & The Juice, H&M Home, Arket, Sephora, Asics, Pilgrim, Zwilling, Weekday, Size? and recent entrants Moscot, Nike and Shaping New Tomorrow in the neighbour lease.
Besides the new pavement, two major projects have been the key driver for this positive development; LaRinacentes extensive refurbishment and reconfiguration of the Illum Department Store and pension fund PFA’s conversion of the former post office building (Postgaarden) into retail.
Two further projects are currently ongoing;
Finnish based CapMan has acquired Købmagergade 42 in order to redevelop the entire property including reconfiguration of the ground floor level with extension for a high-end retail space.
Houston based American investor and developer Hines has developed former university buildings into a new hotel and is currently rebuilding the retail space to new configurations. 25hours hotels is the operator of the hotel, which is a fresh and dynamic hotel brand building upon the shoulders of traditional hotel business and searches for new answers to the demands of an urban, cosmopolitan, culturally interested and brand aware audience. The hotel opened on March 18, 2022. Two of five new retail leases have been signed with Moscot and Nike.
Købmagergade has a daily footfall of between 31,000 and 41,000 people and together with Strøget , it is the prime retail pitch in Copenhagen.
Købmagergade 19 is situated on the attractive stretch and in the middle of this unique retail environment.
